Who We Are

Ramrod Ujuzi Centre compound

Ramrod Ujuzi Centre is a mentorship and talent development hub based in Rachuonyo South, Homa Bay County, Kenya. Founded in February 2023 by media professional Ochieng' Oreyo, the Centre was born from a simple but powerful observation: talent is everywhere in Homa Bay; It is simply waiting to be found, refined and put to good use.

We are a registered Community Based Organisation (CBO) that runs daily and weekly training programmes in writing, photography, music, IT, art, tailoring, entrepreneurship and more. Our mentors are active industry professionals who bring real-world expertise to every session.

The Centre operates from Riat Shopping Centre, Saye Konyango Village, Rachuonyo South; At the heart of the community it serves. Since launch, we have reached over 500 participants, deployed 11 mentors across 9 programmes, and built a growing reputation as Homa Bay's premier talent development institution.

Our goal is not just to train, it is to transform. Every participant who passes through Ramrod Ujuzi Centre should leave with a clearer sense of their ability, a refined skill set and a concrete pathway to a dignified livelihood.

Ramrod Ujuzi Centre is more than a training hub; It is an inspiration hub. We aim at challenging people into taking serious care of ability. After a Ramrod experience, one will never be timid or short-sighted.

We encourage young people to rethink their steps, go an extra mile, challenge the status quo and create decent jobs that grow the economy of Homa Bay and Kenya.

Ramrod Ujuzi Centre is an inspiration hub. It is the place we want you to see yourself differently; As someone whose ability can create dignity, income and progress. We believe deeply that talent is everywhere in this county, in this country; it is simply waiting to be found, refined and put to good use.

Our purpose is simple: identify the talent that God has placed in every human being, and then give it direction. We do not create ability; We illuminate it. After a Ramrod experience, you will never again be timid or short-sighted about your potential.

February 2023

Ramrod Ujuzi Centre is founded

Ochieng' Oreyo launches the Centre at Riat Shopping Centre, Saye Konyango Village, Rachuonyo South-with the rallying call: Putting Ability to Good Use.

Mid 2023

First cohort of programmes launched

Writing, Photography, Music and IT tracks begin. Participants come from across Rachuonyo South, many discovering their abilities for the very first time.

Late 2023

Construction of the Centre begins

Funded by the community and early supporters, the Ramrod Ujuzi Centre building breaks ground-a permanent home for talent development in Homa Bay County.

2024

500+ participants. 11 mentors. 9 programmes.

The Centre grows significantly. More mentors join, new programmes are added, and community impact deepens across Homa Bay County.

2025 & Beyond

Monthly showcases, sports and The Voice

New special programmes launcH-including a monthly talent showcase, U-9 football and public speaking sessions; To deepen community engagement.

You'll receive hands-on training, one-on-one mentorship from industry professionals, and opportunities to showcase and monetise your talent through our networking and jobs clinic programmes. Many participants have gone on to start businesses and land meaningful employment.
While we don't have a direct donation fund, we offer guidance on how to access funding from individuals and corporate institutions. Contact our office and we will point you in the right direction. Our orientation sessions are free for all newcomers.
Programme duration varies. Orientation sessions are single events. Skills tracks run weekly over several weeks. The full mentorship track spans several months. We'll match you to the right level based on your goals and experience.
